IGMPv3 enabled Linux Kernel RPM Packages for RedHat 7.3

Background

Cisco has worked to produce a working IGMPv3 implementation for the Linux 2.4 kernel. In an effort to assist in the testing, Multicast Technologies has built binary RPM packages for the RedHat Linux distribution. (Not all network engineers are kernel hackers)

Status

We will make a best effort to keep these binary releases up to date with the latest release from Cisco.

Multicast Technologies has modified the patch to work with the most recent (2.4.18) version of the kernel. This patch is available here.

Release Notes

These packages have ONLY been tested on RedHat 7.3.
You should install ALL relevant updates to your installation prior to trying these packages.
Please, use the install (-i) option and NOT the upgrade (-U). Multicast Technologies is NOT responsible if you cannot restore your old kernel.

Binary (i386) Packages

kernel-2.4.18-17.7.xigmpv3.i386.rpm
The IGMPv3 enabled version of the kernel package. Use the command "rpm -ivh" to install this package. (This keeps your existing kernel installed.)
kernel-source-2.4.18-17.7.xigmpv3.i386.rpm
You may need to install this package if you use software like VMWare which builds custom modules against your current kernel.
glibc-devel-2.2.5-40igmpv3.i386.rpm
This package modifies system header files to provide the IGMPv3 socket API. You will need this package if you plan to compile software to take advantage of IGMPv3.
igmpv3-test-0.0.3-1.i386.rpm
This package includes a few basic utilities to test the kernel and API.
