IS INTERNET BROADCASTING A NEW MEDIUM LIKE CABLE WAS DECADES AGO?

Multicast Technologies says "YES" and announces new market possibilities in Internet broadcasting
through the Creation of the first commercial Multicast Network aimed at end users

(August 24, 2000—Fairfax, VA) Marshall Eubanks and Jim Junkala, founders of Multicast Technologies, announced today that the company is now the first commercial multicast broadcaster, streaming media over the Internet using new technology which will dramatically reduce the cost of Internet broadcasting. This, plus the growth of broadband, means that Internet Radio will finally be able to rival terrestrial radio in delivering better than CD quality sound to a world-wide audience at a comparable cost per listener. Multicast Technologies is demonstrating this new technology through its own dotcom, www.On-The-I.com. This will mark the first time that Internet broadcasting will be able to reach more people than current terrestrial radio. Like cable television was to broadcast television years ago, Internet broadcasting will become a new medium that is both profitable and efficient thanks to Multicast Technologies. Currently, web sites "unicast" their audio. Unicasting sites send out their signal from one ISP address and each computer which accesses the site gets its own downloaded signal. This technology makes it difficult to reach mass audiences due to the limitations and costs involved in unicasting an audio stream, thus making Internet radio inefficient and unprofitable. Multicast Technologies has developed a proprietary multicasting technology which sends out its signal into several ISP domains simultaneously and uses multicasting so this one stream is able to reach millions. This allows Multicast Technologies to distribute audio over the Internet to a mass audience while substantially lowering distribution costs. The Company is using this technology to become the first Multicast Service Provider through the development of the Multicast Technologies Network (MTN), a commercial, multi-domain, multicast network on the Internet. Based in Fairfax, VA, the corporation will use its MTN to provide the Internet audio broadcasts to hundreds of thousands or even millions of simultaneous listeners through www.On-The-I.com, scheduled for its official launch in mid-September of 2000. With the vast increase in broadband Internet users who access the web through DSL and cable modems, there hasn’t been a way for content providers to take advantage of this increased bandwidth. The Multicast Technologies Network will now provide content providers with a new avenue to reach broadband users so that, like cable television 20 years ago, national networks will be able to broadcast using multicasting to reach a new generation of consumers. In order to improve the understanding in the industry of these technological advances, Multicast Technologies is also sponsoring a conference on Music and the Internet, with more details being available at www.internetmusic2000.com.

"We’re thrilled about announcing our Multicast Network," states Jim Junkala, President of Multicast Technologies. He adds, "With the technology we’ve developed, our Company will have the best capability in the world for streaming audio over the Internet. We intend on using our unparalleled sound quality to become the market leader in the development of multicast applications to millions of listeners and viewers. Through our own branded music and on-line audio website and with the sale of our technology to other broadcasters that would like to stream audio and video content over the Internet, we should become a major player very quickly."

The credibility behind this newly formed company stems from its two main officers: Marshall Eubanks and Jim Junkala. Eubanks holds a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is Chief Technological Officer. Recognized as a World-Class Physicist, Eubanks has published in a variety of technical journals, including both Nature and Science. Junkala, the creative guru behind the company, brings with him extensive years of marketing, branding, and merchandising experience. As President of Image Design Studios, located in Washington, D.C., Junkala owned a creative ad agency that specialized in Corporate Licensed projects including: Six Flags Theme Parks, Harley-Davidson, Time-Warner, Disney, Wimbledon, D.C. Comics and more. With his years of experience, Junkala is expected to brand On-The-I.com as effectively as his company has done for his previous clients.
